Grid is a kind of two-dimensional grid or three-dimensional grid with a certain height, which is made of polypropylene, PVC and other high polymer by thermoplastic or molding. When it is used as civil engineering, it is called geogrid.

The polymer mesh with square or rectangle formed by drawing can be divided into unidirectional drawing and biaxial drawing according to the different drawing directions during manufacturing. It is punched on the extruded polymer plate (mostly polypropylene or high-density polyethylene) and then stretched directionally under heating conditions. The unidirectional stretch grid is only made by stretching along the length direction of the plate; the bidirectional stretch grid is made by stretching the unidirectional stretch grid in the direction perpendicular to its length.

In the manufacturing process of geogrid, the polymer will be reoriented with the process of heating and extending, which strengthens the connection between the molecular chains and improves the strength of geogrid. Its elongation is only 10% - 15% of the original plate. If carbon black and other anti-aging materials are added to geogrids, they will have better durability such as acid, alkali resistance, corrosion resistance and aging resistance.
